The headline: the USA secured their place in the Round of 32 in just two games, Brazil comfortably demolished Haiti, and Morocco beat Scotland with a lightning-fast goal. At the time of publication, the Turkey vs. Paraguay match is still in progress; the result will appear in the daytime news update.
Night Results
USA — Australia 2:0 (Group D)
The tournament hosts put on a convincing performance at Seattle Stadium and advanced to the Round of 32 in just two games. The USA opened the scoring with an Australian own goal — for the second consecutive match, the Americans benefited from an opponent's error in their own net, making them the first team in men's World Cup history to achieve this feat. The second goal was scored by Alex Freeman, who tapped in a rebound inside the six-yard box. Christian Pulisic did not take the field due to a calf injury and was replaced by Ricardo Pepe. Christian Richards delivered a solid defensive display, keeping a clean sheet. The USA have 6 points and lead Group D.
Morocco — Scotland 1:0 (Group C)
Morocco settled the match in the very first minute: Ismail Saibari found the net at the 70-second mark — the fastest goal in the group stage of this World Cup. Scotland tried to respond but could not break through the opposition's tight defence. It is Morocco's first win in the tournament after a 1-1 draw with Brazil in the opening round. Scotland, who beat Haiti in their first match, now have 3 points and remain in contention to advance from the group.
Brazil — Haiti 3:0 (Group C)
The Seleção dominated from the opening minutes: Matheus Cunha scored a brace, and Vinícius Júnior added a third goal in the first half. Brazil moved to 4 points and went top of Group C. Haiti became the first team eliminated from WC 2026: after two defeats (0-1 to Scotland and 0-3 to Brazil), the islanders have no chance of advancing from the group. Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti said after the match that Neymar, who is recovering from a calf injury, is expected to return for the final group-stage match against Scotland.
Turkey — Paraguay (Group D)
At the time of publication, the Turkey vs. Paraguay match is still ongoing (Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, California; kick-off at 06:00 Kyiv time). Paraguay led 1-0 after a goal from Matías Galarza in the 2nd minute — the fastest goal at this World Cup. Miguel Almirón received a red card, leaving Paraguay a man down. Turkey pressed but could not equalise. The final result will be in the daytime news update at 13:00.
