Saturday's World Cup 2026 match schedule in Kyiv time closes the quarter-final round with two fixtures: at 00:00 Kyiv time (midnight) Norway face England in Miami, and at 03:00 Kyiv time (already Sunday) Argentina take on Switzerland in Kansas City. France and Spain are already through to the semi-finals — read more about their journey in the article "France — Morocco opens the quarter-finals: World Cup 2026 match schedule in Kyiv time".
Norway — England: Haaland vs Kane at Hard Rock Stadium
The first of the day's two matches is the first-ever meeting between Norway and England at a World Cup. The two sides have faced each other 13 times in total: England have won seven, Norway two. Both meetings between them in the 21st century ended in a 1–0 victory for the Three Lions. Kick-off is at 17:00 Eastern Time (00:00 Kyiv time on Sunday, 12 July).
Ahead of the match, England captain Harry Kane declined to compare himself to Erling Haaland. "We are completely different players," Kane said. "I like to be more involved with the ball, although I can play as a pure striker too." Of the Norwegian, he added: "Physically he is a machine. His goalscoring record speaks for itself." Haaland has scored seven goals at the tournament, Kane six; both trail the top-scorers' leaders Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, who each have eight.
Norway reached the quarter-finals by beating Brazil 2–1 thanks to a Haaland brace. England edged Mexico 3–2 in an epic match at the Azteca — Jude Bellingham scored twice and Kane converted a penalty. Norway have conceded the most goals of any remaining team — nine — while England have scored 11 in five matches.
Argentina — Switzerland: Messi and the penalty question
The second quarter-final of the day pits Argentina against Switzerland at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (21:00 Eastern / 04:00 Kyiv time on Sunday). Switzerland are in the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1954, when they hosted the tournament. Argentina have never lost to Switzerland: five wins and two draws in seven previous meetings.
Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni confirmed that Messi himself will decide whether to take penalties — despite difficulties in previous matches. Defender Cristian Romero acknowledged at the press conference that the team needs to address the defensive problems that surfaced in the match against Egypt, where Argentina came back from 0–2 down in the final 11 minutes. Top-scorers race and the tournament picture
After the quarter-finals, four teams will remain. France and Spain will already play their semi-final on 14 July in Dallas. The winners of today's matches will meet on 15 July in Atlanta. The final is scheduled for 19 July at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. In total, WC 2026 features a record 104 matches — the full World Cup 2026 match schedule in Kyiv time is available on our website.
The top-scorers' race is led by Messi and Mbappé with eight goals each, followed by Haaland (7) and Kane (6). Today's matches could significantly reshape that picture.
