In the final, Spain defeated Argentina 1–0 in extra time. The only goal, in the 106th minute, was scored by substitute Ferran Torres. Argentina had been reduced to ten men after Enzo Fernández was sent off (second yellow card in the 90+3'). Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez set a World Cup final record with 11 saves, but could not rescue his team. Spain claimed their second FIFA World Cup title.
