Mexico vs. Korea and Three More Matches: A Game Night at the World Cup

All News from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Mundial Today

Tonight the World Cup won't let you sleep: four group-stage matches will stretch from 19:00 all the way into the early hours of the morning, Kyiv time. The main course is the clash between the two Group A leaders, Mexico and Korea — both sides are on 3 points and will go head-to-head for first place. But the rest of the schedule is no less compelling: in Group B all four teams are level on one point each, and that equilibrium is certain to change today.

Day's Schedule

  • 19:00 Kyiv time. Czech Republic vs. South Africa (Group A, Matchday 2) — Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta
  • 22:00 Kyiv time. Switzerland vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina (Group B, Matchday 2) — SoFi Stadium, Inglewood
  • 01:00 Kyiv time (June 19). Canada vs. Qatar (Group B, Matchday 2) — BC Place, Vancouver
  • 04:00 Kyiv time (June 19). Mexico vs. Korea (Group A, Matchday 2) — Estadio Akron, Guadalajara

Mexico vs. Korea (04:00 Kyiv time, Estadio Akron, Guadalajara)

This is the match worth setting an alarm for. After Matchday 1, both teams are on 3 points and separated only by goal difference — Mexico are ahead. The winner will effectively secure their place in the knockout rounds, while the loser will face the pressure of a must-not-lose final group game. As a reminder: in Matchday 1, Mexico beat South Africa 2–0, while Korea defeated the Czech Republic 2–1.

Mexico are playing at home — Estadio Akron in Guadalajara is one of the three Mexican venues in the tournament, and the crowd support will be deafening. Korea, for their part, showed real character in Matchday 1, coming from behind to snatch victory. Watch the attacking duel closely: Mexican forward Julián Quiñones has already found the net at this tournament, while Korea traditionally rely on quick counter-pressing and collective play.

What's at stake: the winner almost guarantees themselves a place in the Round of 32, while the loser will need to pick up points in the final matchday against the Czech Republic or South Africa respectively.

Switzerland vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina (22:00 Kyiv time, SoFi Stadium, Inglewood)

Group B is the most evenly balanced in the tournament after Matchday 1: all four teams are on one point each following two draws (Canada 1–1 Bosnia, Switzerland 1–1 Qatar). Today Switzerland and Bosnia open the group's second matchday and have the chance to pull ahead. For both teams, a win is almost a guarantee of progression, while a draw leaves everything open heading into the final round. SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles is one of the largest and most spectacular venues in the tournament.

Canada vs. Qatar (01:00 Kyiv time, BC Place, Vancouver)

The second Group B match of the same night — Canada host Qatar at their home ground, BC Place in Vancouver. The hosts, after drawing with Bosnia, are looking for their first win at a home World Cup. Qatar, Asian champions and hosts of the 2022 World Cup, also started with a draw against Switzerland and are in need of points. For the Canadians, home crowd support is an extra advantage.

Czech Republic vs. South Africa (19:00 Kyiv time, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta)

The evening kicks off with a match between two teams that lost in Matchday 1: the Czech Republic fell to Korea 1–2, and South Africa lost to Mexico 0–2. Both sides are without a point and are effectively playing a match that could prove decisive for their chances of advancing, even as one of the best third-placed teams. A defeat here almost certainly closes the door to the knockout stage.
