Mexico vs. Korea and Three More Matches: A World Cup 2026 Night

All News from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Mundial Today

Tonight the World Cup won't let you sleep: four group-stage matches will stretch from 19:00 all the way to morning. The main event is the clash between the two Group A leaders, Mexico and Korea, at 04:00 Kyiv time in Guadalajara. Both sides won their opening matches and are now fighting for first place in the group and an early ticket to the Round of 32.

Tonight's Schedule

  • 19:00 Kyiv time. Czech Republic — South Africa (Group A, Matchday 2) — Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta
  • 22:00 Kyiv time. Switzerland — Bosnia and Herzegovina (Group B, Matchday 2) — SoFi Stadium, Inglewood
  • 01:00 Kyiv time (June 19). Canada — Qatar (Group B, Matchday 2) — BC Place, Vancouver
  • 04:00 Kyiv time (June 19). Mexico — Korea (Group A, Matchday 2) — Estadio Akron, Guadalajara

19:00 — Czech Republic vs. South Africa (Group A, Atlanta)

Both teams are yet to open their account in Group A: the Czech Republic lost to Korea 1–2, while South Africa fell to Mexico 0–2. For both sides, this is a survival match — a defeat would effectively close the door to the Round of 32. The Czechs have the edge in major-tournament experience, but Korea already showed they can turn a game around, and South Africa were far from toothless in their competitive debut.

22:00 — Switzerland vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina (Group B, Inglewood)

Group B is the most evenly balanced in the tournament: all four teams have one point each after draws in the first round (Canada 1–1 Bosnia, Switzerland 1–1 Qatar). A win here sends the victor straight to the top of the group and gives them a massive advantage heading into the final matchday. Switzerland are an experienced, defensively solid side; Bosnia already showed character against Canada and are capable of playing on equal terms.

01:00 — Canada vs. Qatar (Group B, Vancouver)

The second Group B match of the night — technically not simultaneous with Switzerland–Bosnia, as kickoffs are three hours apart, so the suspense remains intact. Canada are playing at home — BC Place in Vancouver will be rocking with local support. The tournament hosts, after their draw with Bosnia, need a win to avoid depending on other results. Qatar, the reigning WC-2022 hosts, drew with Switzerland and are theoretically still in the hunt for a spot among the eight best third-placed teams.

04:00 — Mexico vs. Korea (Group A, Guadalajara) — Match of the Night

This is where the biggest storyline of the day gets resolved. Mexico and Korea are the only two teams in Group A with wins in the first round: the Mexicans beat South Africa 2–0 at Estadio Azteca, while the Koreans defeated the Czech Republic 2–1 in Guadalajara. Both sides are on 3 points, with Mexico ahead only on goal difference. The winner of this match will virtually guarantee themselves a place in the Round of 32 and, most likely, first place in the group.

Mexico are effectively playing at home — Estadio Akron in Guadalajara will be packed with local fans. The squad has already shown organized play and the ability to take their chances. Korea, on the other hand, demonstrated a knack for turning games around: Hwang In-beom and Oh Hyeon-gyu have already found the net in the tournament. Head-to-head history favors Mexico — they beat Korea at WC-1998 (3–1) and WC-2018 (2–1), though the most recent meeting in 2025 ended in a 2–2 draw. This is the match worth setting your alarm for.
