The evening schedule of the 2026 World Cup (Kyiv time) produced one completed game: Norway defeated Ivory Coast 2:1 in the Round of 32 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. It is the first ever knockout-round victory for the "Vikings" at a FIFA World Cup.

The match kicked off at 20:00 Kyiv time. Norway opened the scoring in the 39th minute: Antonio Nusa received the ball on the left side of the penalty area and curled it into the net. Ivory Coast pressed in the second half and levelled the score: Amad Diallo played a one-two with Nicolas Pépé and beat the goalkeeper with his left foot. Extra time seemed inevitable — but in the 86th minute Erling Haaland tapped the ball into an empty net with a gentle touch of his left foot after a pass from Patrick Berg, making the final score 2:1.
Haaland has now scored in three consecutive matches at this tournament. Norway become the first European side to reach the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup. Their opponent in the next round will be determined after the later matches.
For Ivory Coast, the tournament is over: the "Elephants" failed to capitalise on their dominance and fell to Scandinavian pragmatism. Amad Diallo, the Manchester United player, made a notable impact on the match, but it was not enough.
